Leon B. Senter, of the architectural firm Smith & Senter, was commissioned by Tulsa oilman Waite Phillips to design the Philcade Building. Original groundbreaking occurred in 1929 and the building was completed in 1931.
The building was originally designed to compliment the Philtower Building without competing against its gothic design.
With a centralized downtown Tulsa location at 511 S. Boston Ave, Amoco purchased the building in 1945 and completed a major renovation in 1987.
The Philcade Building was listed on the Historical Preservation Register on September 18, 1986. The art deco motifs, along with rich bronze, polished St. Genevieve marble, lend to the lobby's striking, elegant appearance. Property Operations strive to preserve the aesthetic quality of the building while maintaining a safe work environment.
